Exhibitions
The exhibitions organized by the Art Forum are divided in two categories: the Art Forum Competition and the Special Projects @1730.
- The Art Forum Competition’s exhibitions present the work of young, cutting-edge artists selected by an inter-faculty jury. These exhibits are developed after a residency in which the artists are able to produce new work or tackle old projects that require immersion in an academic environment. Recognizing Harvard University as a privileged space for research and debate, the Forum offers a unique opportunity for Latin American artists to engage in research and to interact with faculty and students. The benefit is twofold: the artists are able to profit meaningfully from their stay at the University and to add a new layer of reflection to their work while, simultaneously, their presence further Harvard University’s primary goal of being a space for thoughtful experimentation.
NOTE: The Art forum competition is no longer receiving applications.
- For the Special Projects @1730′s exhibitions each semester, and by express invitation of the Art Forum Curator, a local artist is commissioned to produce a small, site specific exhibition project. The exhibit seeks to engage the students, staff and visitors which use the facility on a daily basis, in studying and appreciating Latin American art and culture.
